Why this role exists

We’re scaling quickly and shipping AI-powered product improvements to institutions serving millions of students. As we grow, we need stronger automated testing and more reliable release processes to maintain a high bar for quality.

We’re hiring a QA Automation Engineer to expand our Playwright test coverage, improve test reliability, and help the team ship with confidence. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building practical automation and improving quality in a fast-moving product environment.

What you'll do

• Build, maintain, and scale comprehensive Playwright E2E test suites (TypeScript/JavaScript)
• Create reusable test utilities, page objects, fixtures, and helpers that scale across teams
• Evolve our testing approach from early-stage to production-grade by improving stability, reducing flakiness, and increasing coverage
• Own the release process: coordinate release branches, release candidates, smoke checks, go/no-go decisions, release notes, deployments, and rollback plans with engineering and product
• Work closely with Brigita and the engineering team to streamline the release workflow
• Define and execute functional, regression, integration, smoke, and exploratory testing strategies
• Track and report quality metrics, including defect leakage, escape rate, test coverage, and test reliability
• Identify quality gaps and drive continuous process improvements
• Integrate automated tests into our CI/CD pipeline using GitHub Actions
• Monitor test stability, debug flaky tests, and improve signal quality
• Maintain test environments, test data strategies, and feature flags
• Partner with Product and Design to refine acceptance criteria and test plans
• Identify, prioritize, and verify bug fixes with engineering
